Love Letter to Your Thesis Competition 2020

Love Letter to Your Thesis Competition 2020

Valentine's Day is approaching, which means it's a good time to write a letter to one of the most important relationships of a PGR's life: your thesis.

Whether you're in a happy honeymoon phase 💖or going through a rough patch 💔, you can participate in our write a letter to your thesis competition! It's a chance to reflect & be creative, and there are prizes up for grabs.

How to Participate

Drop your letter in the pink box in the Gilchrist no later than the 19th February to participate. Be sure to include your name and email somewhere on the letter so we can contact you!

You can also email your entry to danielle.fatzinger@glasgow.ac.uk.

Prizes

University of Glasgow notebooks are up for grabs for the winner of each category, and #TeamUofG socks are available for all participants!

Winners’ letters will also be shared on the blog, with permission from the writer, either anonymously or attributed (writers’ choice).

Judging Criteria

There are three categories: Most Romantic, Saddest, and Most Inspiring. All entries are eligible to win any category; there is no need to indicate one.

Entries will be judged on:

  • creativity

  • voice (individual style)

  • reflection

  • adherence to topic (your relationship with your thesis!)

  • structure (does it follow the expected structure of a type of letter, such as a postcard, love poem, long-form letter, email, etc).

For examples, you can check out our Saddest and Most Romantic letters from 2018.
