Hi from Niamh!

Hi from Niamh!

Hello!  My name is Niamh, I'm one of the Research, Strategy and Innovation Office's Postgraduate Research Events interns, and I just wanted to introduce myself.  I started in October 2015 and have been getting stuck in.  I'm already learning a lot - it is fascinating to see postgraduate events from the 'other side'. I am a PhD student in the department of English Literature here at Glasgow, and I have just entered my writing up year.  I am writing my thesis on nineteenth century science writing and religious poetry, investigating the ways in which religious poetry reflected and considered contemporary scientific debates, and how popular science writing engaged with theological questions.

Throughout my years as a PhD student, I have really benefited from the diverse and useful training opportunities offered by Glasgow.  As well as helping to organise some of these events, my focus during this internship is on providing tailored information for different groups of PGR students.  I have so far produced a resource guide for those of us in our writing-up year, and am working hard on projects for people at other stages of study, so watch this space!

If you have any questions about the training provided by the PGR office, or feedback on the sort of resources and information you have found most useful during your studies, please get in touch.
