Love Letter to Your Thesis Competition 2021
February is FINALLY here, which means that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! For PGRs, this is the perfect opportunity to reflect on one of the most important relationships we have… the one with our thesis.
Whether you are still in your honeymoon phase or going through a rough patch, you can participate in our Love Letter to Your Thesis Competition. Get creative, and there are some fantastic UofG prizes up for grabs!
How to Participate
Write your love letter and email it to Charlie.Rex@glasgow.ac.uk by the 14th of February to enter. Unfortunately, our traditional letterbox in the Gilchrist is out of action this year, but feel free to hand-write your letter and scan it to submit via email. Equally, you can write it on a computer, tablet, or other medium of your choosing (it’s completely up to you!).
The winner of each category will receive a fabulous prize and their letters will be posted to the UofG PGR Blog (the writer can choose to remain anonymous if they wish). Everyone who submits a letter will receive a participant’s prize!
Judging Criteria
There are three categories: Most Romantic, Saddest, and Most Inspiring. All entries are eligible to win any category; there is no need to indicate one.
Entries will be judged on:
Creativity
Voice (individual style)
Reflection
Adherence to topic (your relationship with your thesis!)
Structure (does it follow the expected structure of a type of letter, such as a postcard, love poem, long-form letter, email, etc).

We can’t wait to read your letters and will be announcing the winners shortly after the deadline!
